Macaroons

So, people these are no ordinary American macaroons. These are quite French actually. They are super expensive to buy and we hadn’t tasted any until the Smiths came to visit. Well, after we tasted them we realized what all the craze was and Mark and I decided to try to make them. What went from an hour process to make two different kinds of macaroons turned into three hours and only one kind! However they were so so delicious. We learned a few things in the process and I’m telling you they are so loaded with sugar that you should only eat one a year!!! So, I’ve had my quota for the rest of my life :). I think we made close to twenty.

Finished product. It was nearing midnight at this point hahahaha!

Happy big 30 Jess

So, I turned thirty this summer! I had a very meaningful and special birthday. In the States we also swing by Krispye Kreme’s to get our free dozen donuts but we can’t do that here so instead we’ve made donuts for each persons bday. So, for mine we had French crulers. Hahaha so fitting right! Mark actually made them and he surprised me with donuts in the shape of my age. Hahaha how sweet!

Zoe participated by putting a part to my bosch over her head!

Don’t worry, she got free!

The afternoon of my birthday Ali and I went for a three mile bike ride/run through the city, behind a castle, up a mountain and down the mountain through the center of town to where we live. It was a great way for me to hit this milestone!

Our Panera!

We took a little bike ride with the Smiths and grabbed a bite at Paniere! It is so yummy! Then we went to some castle grounds and ate!

The view from the hill behind the Castle!

The back side of the Castle.

We saw an escargot! Don’t worry we didn’t eat it. It’s illegal to take them from the wild.

And we saw horses!

And we saw Chris do some tricks on a his rental bike!

Annecy Part 1

We took a bus to Annecy with the Smiths and ate lunch at a Italian place. It was such an interesting meal cause it was so so so different than anything Italian in the states.

Zoos water cup. Way. Kid friendly!

That is a raw egg right smack in the middle of the pasta! Yummy!

This was plastered on the side of a building.
